Summer term

Summer term

Welcome to your book-making materials from Pori Drwy Stori.

This unique resource will help your class to explore the process of making their own book, providing a motivating tool which will allow them to write independently and collaboratively in response to a variety of stimuli, on subjects that are of interest and importance to them. We would suggest using these with your class during the summer term.

Objectives:

The resource will help your children to develop:

  • Creativity
  • Skills in conveying information and ideas through narrative and non-narrative forms
  • Planning and sequencing skills
  • Positive attitudes towards books

PDS Magazine imageThe Unicorn's Challenge

This magazine of fun activities is designed to be sent home with children over the summer at the end of their Reception year. Activities are linked to the Literacy and Numeracy Framework outcomes and encourage children to practice skills over the holiday through playing games with a parent or carer.

To get children excited about receiving a magazine, teachers can play some of the games in class first.

Resources

This toolkit is packed with fun ideas for lessons and activities using the My Book resource, and they are inspired by teachers from across Wales.

The book has been developed to enable each child to have plenty of space in which to create their own story.

Numeracy resources

This magazine in Welsh and English is full of fun activities designed to be sent home with children over the summer at the end of their Reception year. Activities are linked to the Literacy and Numeracy Framework outcomes and encourage children to practice skills over the holiday through playing games with a parent or carer.
